About Me

My professional background is in nursing, where I have worked in various specialities, including special-care baby units, inflammatory joint diseases and kidney transplantation. I found my vocation as a counsellor when being told by patients how I alleviated their pain by taking the time to sit and listen; in other words, to empathize with them. Since my nursing days, I have had a few small businesses in the creative arts and crafts, while bringing up my children. I now share a home with my husband and younger daughter, two shaggy dogs and some hens.

To be able to offer counselling, I believe one needs to have lived amongst suffering, to have experienced life from many angles, and to have come through it all in one piece.
I have undergone 2 years’ personal therapy so as to be more self-aware of who I am: for me to know how my clients feel about therapy, I need to have had experience of it myself.

I have over 13 years’ experience of working with clients, during which time I have dealt with instances of most issues.

I have held regular counselling sessions in schools and colleges, including in a technical college over a 5-year period.

I have 10 years’ experience of working in private practice.
